Kleinbeeldcamera met verwisselbaar en uitschuifbaar objectief voor 24 x 36 mm op 35 mm film. Voorzien van standaard accessoire schoentje. Horizontale metalen spleetsluiter met 6 sluitertijden: 1/25, 1/50, 1/100, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000 + B. Afdrukknop blokkeert voor dubbele opnamen. Keuzeknop zit aan de voorzijde en is gecombineerd met filmtransport; voor instellen sluitertijd moet die uitgetrokken worden. Afstandsinstelling variabel van 0,9 meter tot oneindig met draaiwieltje bovenop aan de voorkant, dichtbij de ontspanknop; scherpstelling met behulp van gekoppelde afstandsmeter (samenvallen van 2 beeldjes), zichtbaar in een apart oculair. Het scherpstelwieltje is vergrendeld bij oneindig en kan met naastliggend palletje ontgrendeld worden. Variabel irisdiafragma, instelbaar van 2.,8 tot 22; de instelring kent geen klikstanden. Afleesbare scherptediepteschaal rondom de lens. Verwisselbaar objectief Tessar 50 mm 1:2.8 van Carl Zeiss Jena, met bajonetvatting. Objectief kan ingeschoven worden voor compact opbergen. Filmtransport via draaiknop aan de voorzijde, voorzien van opnameteller boven op de camera (oplopend) en automatische stop. Opnameteller moet handmatig op 0 worden gesteld na verwisselen film. Compleet met kleine lensdop en vizierzoeker bovenop (zie foto hieronder) Deze camera was het antwoord van Zeiss Ikon op het succes van de Leica kleinbeeld camera. Het serienummer begint met een V, op basis waarvan het exacte jaar kon worden bepaald: 1933. De metalen horizontale spleetsluiter maakte snelle tijden tot 1/1000 mogelijk, maar was niet erg betrouwbaar. Als camera’s teruggingen naar de fabriek voor reparatie, werd er een extra letter bij het serienummer geplaatst; deze camera heeft dat niet en is dus nooit terug geweest naar de fabriek. De vizierzoeker 436/70 bovenop is een accessoire van Carl Zeiss Jena en toont het beeld bij gebruik van lenzen van 28, 35, 50, 85 en 135 mm. Gekocht op een fotografica beurs in Nieuwegein in maart 2014.

The setting wheel is situated at the front and must be lifted to be able to select the desired speed. Distance setting variable from 0,9 meter to infinity with a rotating wheel on top at the front, near the release button; focussing with help of a coupled range finder (matching of 2 images gives the correct setting), visible in a separate eyepiece. The focusing wheel is locked when set on infinity and can be unlocked with a nearby catch. Variable iris diaphragm, aperture settings from 2.8 to 22; setting ring does not snap in. Readable depth of field scale around the lens. Interchangeable lens Tessar 50 mm 1:2.8 of Carl Zeiss Jena with bayonet mount. Lens is collapsible for compact storage. Film transport via advance wheel on the front side with frame counter on top of the camera (increasing) and automatic stop. Frame counter has to be set to zero manually after film loading. Including small lens cap and a multifocal viewfinder on top (see picture below). This camera was the answer of Zeiss Ikon to the successful Leica 35 mm camera. The serial number starts with a V; based on that the exact production year could be determined: 1933. The metal horizontal plane shutter makes fast shutter times till 1/1000 possible, but the shutter was not very reliable. If cameras were returned back to the factory for repair an extra letter was placed in front of the serial number; this camera does not bear the extra letter, so was never returned. The multifocal viewfinder 436/70 on top is an accessory of Carl Zeiss Jena and shows the view when 28, 35, 50, 85 and 135 mm lenses are used. Bought at a fotografica fair in Nieuwegein in March 2014.
