Compacte inklapbare camera voor 24 x 36 mm op 35 mm Karat film, de voorloper van de later uitgebrachte Agfa Rapid film, die van de ene cassette naar de andere wordt gerold en niet hoeft te worden teruggespoeld. Er konden slechts 12 opnames op een film. Geen flitsaansluiting. Agfa centrale sluiter met 3 sluitertijden:  1/25, 1/50, 1/100 + B en T, geblokkeerd tegen dubbele opnamen. Sluiter wordt gespannen door filmtransport. Afstandsinstelling variabel van 1 meter tot oneindig. Variabel irisdiafragma, instelbaar van 6,3 tot 22. Objectief Anastigmat Igestar 1 : 6,3 f = 5,5 cm. Fimtransport via draaiknop met opnameteller. Compleet met tasje, gebruiksaanwijzing in het Duits, een brochure over Karat camera’s en een over Agfa camera’s in het algemeen, beide in het Nederlands en een Duitstalige boekje “Fotos mit der Karat” van Dr. E. Hirt uit 1940. 
Deze camera is gekocht bij Talens in Delft of Den Haag, getuige het stickertje in het filmcompartiment en ook nog eens de firmastempel op de gebruiksaanwijzing.

De Agfa Karat camera’s werden in 1936 geintroduceerd, dit exemplaar is van de 2^de serie. Er waren ook uitvoeringen met lichtsterkere objectieven en met Prontosluiter. In 1948 komt er ook een Karat voor normale kleinbeeldfilm, de Karat 36. De productie wordt in 1956 stopgezet.

Compact folding camera for 24 x 36 mm on 35 mm Karat film, the predecessor of the Agfa Rapid film, introduced in the 60’s. This film is transported from one cassette to the other and rewinding is therefore not necessary. Each film could contain only 12 exposures. No flash contacts. Agfa Central shutter with 3 shutter speeds: 1/25, 1/50, 1/100 + B and T, blocked against double exposures. The shutter is tensioned by film transport. Focusing variable from 1 meter to infinity. Variable iris diaphragm, aperture settings from 6,3 to 22. Lens Anastigmat Igestar 1 : 6,3 f = 5,5 cm. Film tansport via advance wheel with frame counter. Including bag, manual in German, a brochure about Karat camera’s and one about Agfa camera’s in general both in Dutch and a booklet “Fotos mit der Karat” from Dr. E. Hirt in German, published in 1940
This camera was bought at Talens in Delft or The Hague according to the sticker at the inside of the filmcompartment plus a company stamp on the manual.

The Agfa Karat camera’s were introduced in 1936, this model is from the second series. There were also types with wider lens openings and with Pronto shutter. In 1948 a karat for normal 35 mm film was introduced, the Karat 36. The production was terminated in 1956.
